About Us Print
Owslebury Primary School is a small, rural school situated in the centre of the village about six miles to the south east of Winchester.

The main building was built in 1976 and was extended in 1995 with the addition of a new classroom.  In 2002 a large new hall was added.

The school is set in attractive grounds with views over the countryside and it is on a level site with some adaptations for children with disabilities.  We have our own pond, a tarmac play area and a large playing field.

It is our aim to provide a safe, caring, stimulating and enjoyable learning environment to maximise the attainment of all children and to promote high standards especially in their core subjects.

By feeling secure and happy, children will develop self-confidence and be more receptive to all aspects of learning. Their experiences should help them understand the world in which they live and promote tolerance and understanding of others. Our broad and balanced curriculum together with all extra-curriculum experiences is designed to develop the talents and interests of individuals giving them the opportunity to take responsibility for their learning.

Teachers will use a full range of teaching and learning styles and strategies but above all they will be encouraged to be passionate about their teaching.

We will draw on the interests and energies of our Governing Body and promote the importance parents play in the education of their children. We will never under estimate the need to work closely together for the good of the child the school and the community.

In line with all schools, we have a published scheme on information available under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

The school has received a Silver Arts Mark award in recognition of its commitment to education in the Arts subjects. We have also achieved Enhanced Healthy School Status and have an Activemark award because of the school's work in promoting healthy lifestyles.

Our most recent Ofsted inspection (June 2009) was extremely positive and praised all aspects of the school's work.
